British Airways Galleries First Lounge T5

The Galleries First Lounge in London Heathrow’s Terminal 5 is huge. I’m terrible at estimating square feet but this is easily 3 times the size of the new Flagship Admirals Club in JFK. There is just room after room.

Main big room

One thing I love about the lounges here is that you can check your bags like a coat check. That’s illegal in the US for security reasons but it does make lounge stays more comfortable. It was fairly full when I arrived although I didn’t have trouble finding a seat. First thing I did is I took a shower in a hospital like shower facility, the AA arrivals lounge shower rooms are much nicer, and changed into fresh clothes. I grabbed a glass of champagne and sat down to work but I couldn’t keep my eyes open. So I decided to sleep for an hour and a half. When I awoke the lounge was empty.

I walked around to explore some

One thing to note is that the quality of the food and drinks they serve is top notch. In the self service bar there are a few $100+ bottles hiding in plain sight.

I counted no less than 7 espresso machines spread around the lounge

I grabbed a snack of some finger sandwiches and a cup of tea, you gotta assimilate as much as possible when traveling. They also had scones and clotted cream, and a hot food buffet worth a full meal.

I then sat down with my laptop to try and finish all my homework, I didn’t but kept at it. Pretty soon I decided to leave and head to my gate where I would finally make it to Rome.
